Item Title
C-17 Parent Services Contract (IDEA required) 2014-15.
Issue/Rationale
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires explicit activities to support the parents of students with disabilities.
The ESE funded parent liaison serves as an advocate for parents, consults with school and district personnel, attends meetings as requested and provides other support, including a periodic newsletter to families. The parent liaison effectively prevents the escalation of some situations to due process hearings.
Recommended Action
Continue contract for IDEA parent services.
Financial Impact
This is funded with IDEA grant funds. Costs are expected to be under $20,000.00.
