August 3, 2009 Special Meeting - Budget Agenda Item #5 Item Title Adopt the 2009-10 required local effort mill levy Issue/Rationale The district's Required Local Effort (RLE) is subtracted from the gross calculation of Florida Education Program (FEFP) dollars.  Millage rates are also adjusted because required local effort may not exceed 90 percent of a district's total FEFP entitlement.  In order to receive state funding, school districts must levy the local property tax millage set by the Legislature. Recommended Action Motion to adopt the required local effort mill levy of 5.235 mills which is (4.74) percent less than the rolled-back rate. Financial Impact Revenue to the District from the required local effort mill levy is in the amount of $52,319,828 in Fund 100. Submitted By Dr. George F.
