Item Title
C-21 Contract for IDEA required parent services for school year 2010-2011.
Issue/Rationale
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires explicit activities to support the parents of students with disabilities.
The ESE funded parent liaison serves as an advocate for parents, consults with school and district personnel, attends meetings as requested and provides other support, including a periodic newsletter, to families. The parent liaison effectively prevents the escalation of some situations to due process hearings.
Recommended Action
Approve continuing contract for IDEA Parent services as submitted.
Financial Impact
This is funded IDEA Grant funds. Costs are expected to remain under $20,000.00.
