C-59 Additive Change Order 1 for Coppergate Elementary School Athletic Field Drainage System

Issue/Rationale

Change Orders are initiated by the Contractor, Architect/Engineer or Owner, and may increase or decrease the scope of the project as defined by the plans and specifications.    Change Orders are reviewed by the Architect/Engineer and staff prior to submission to the School Board for approval.  The additive changes are required to correct drainage problems and ponding water along rear property line.  The initial estimate for the project was close to the budgeted amount.  The bid was lower than expected and therefore, the additional work can be accomplished within budget.  Contractor:  Thomas May Construction Company, Engineer:  Mittauer & Associates 



Recommended Action

Approve the Change Order.



Financial Impact

If approved, this Change Order will increase the contract amount by $55,746.60.  The Substantial Completion date is August 14, 2009.  Architect fees will increase by $3,344.76 as a result of this change order.
