C-54 Petty Cash Funds for the 2008-2009 Fiscal Year

Issue/Rationale

Petty cash funds are used by the schools/departments for postage and other incidental purchases under $50 where it is not feasible for a purchase order to be issued.

State Board of Education Rule 6A-1.057 authorizes the use of petty cash funds for small expenditures for the operation of schools.  The Rule requires that each fund must be authorized by the School Board as to the amount and the specific person responsible for the fund.

The following petty cash funds are recommended for approval effective July 1, 2008.

Deputy Superintendent's Office                  $150

Director of Maintenance                              $300

Principal, McRae Elementary School            $100

Principal, Keystone Heights High School      $300

Principal, Orange Park Elementary               $300

Director of Elementary Education                  $300

Director of Transportation                              $200

Principal, Orange Park High School               $200

Asst. Superintendent for Instruction                  $300

Director of Purchasing/Warehousing                  $100

Supervisor of Adult/Community Education         $100

Director of Student Services/Homeless Grant      $150

Asst. Superintendent for Support Services         $300

Total:                                                      $2,800



Recommended Action
Approval of the petty cash funds, as presented.

Financial Impact
There is no direct financial effect on budgets by the approval of the petty cash funds.
