Item Title
C-37 Clay Behavioral Health Contract 07 08.
Issue/Rationale
This contract continues counseling services required for severe EH/SED or EBD students for the 2007-2008 school year. Services are provided by employees of Clay County Behavioral Health Center, Inc. on school campuses where severe students are located.
Mental Health counseling services are required to be offered to Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) and Emotionally Handicapped Self-Contained (EHSC) students now referred to as Emotionally and Behaviorally Disordered (EBD).
Recommended Action
The Superintendent recommends approval.
Financial Impact
Currently the district only pays for counseling that is not covered by CCBHC through their Medicaid billing. Consequently, we pay slightly more for the entire district on this contract as the cost for one Mental Health Counselor. In the past the School District of Clay County has covered approximately one third to one half of the cost.
