March 15, 2012 Regular Meeting Agenda Item #4 Item Title C-3 Settlement of Personal Injury Claims of Brandon Beckworth Issue/Rationale On October 6, 2009 Brandon Beckworth was a passenger on a school bus that was involved in an accident caused by the actions of a bus driver employed by the Clay County School District driving a school bus owned by the Clay County School board.  Plaintiff was injured, was transported to Orange Park Medical Center and subsequently incurred significant medical bills as a result of the injuries received in the accident.  Unpaid medical bills exceed $5,000.00.  Objective diagnostic testing demonstrates injury to plaintiff.  Settlement, subject to approval by the full Board, was reached at mediation which was attended by Carol Studdard, Dr. George Copeland and Bruce Bickner.  Total settlement for all claims of both parties is $12,500.00.
