Agenda Item #5 Item Title C-5 Donation of two (2) buses to Florida National Guard for use at Florida Youth Challenge Academy Issue/Rationale Buses 399 and 409 have been declared surplus. The value, as set forth in the attached memorandum is less than $2000 each, and said buses are obsolete and uneconomical for School Board use. The terms of F.S. 274.06 and 1013.28(2) allow disposition of such tangible personal property items by the most cost effective and efficient means. Florida Youth Challenge Academy is in need of our surplus buses to transport students. Donation of these buses by title transfer to the Florida National Guard for use at the Florida Youth Challenge Academy would serve a valid public purpose. Recommended Action Approve the donation of surplus school buses numbered 399 and 409 to the Florida National Guard for use at Florida Youth Challenge Academy. Financial Impact The total impact to the school district in lost auction proceeds is approximately $3600. The estimated current auction value of Bus #399 (1977 Thomas - VIN # 1HVBBABN9VH472668) and Bus #409 (1977 Thomas - VIN # 1HVBBABN1VH472678), would be approximately $1800 each.
