Item Title Chance Craven introducing a nonprofit organization "itsChance" and relating afterschool clubs
Issue/Rationale
From: Chance Craven [mailto:chancecraven@itschance.com] Sent: Tuesday, March 04, 2008 11:21 AM To: Bush, Karen Subject: Speaking on March 20th
We spoke briefly yesterday afternoon and I appreciate you taking the time to return my phone call. I am requesting time to speak on March 20th, to present the idea of an afterschool club at each Clay County Junior and Senior High.
In the end of 2007, a group of young adults started to come together to make a difference, to offer others a chance at having a better life. Through feeding the homeless, collecting clothes, and other such things… the group started to grow.
Since then the process of creating non for profit by the name of “itsChance” has begun. Believing that one life can change every life, we provide the chance for children, teenagers and young adults to live, learn and love through any adversity that may arise. Creating generations that will be seen and heard by the world as life changers!
Our goal within the Public School system is to encourage students to get involved in their communities. Which so many would do, if they only knew how! itsChance plans to educate students on Volunteering and how to simply make a difference through selfless love. With opportunities like feeding the homeless, working with sick children, the elderly etc. Creating competiveness between schools… seeing which school can make the largest impact in certain areas throughout the year.
Growing up in Clay County, I want to start making a difference in the world… beginning right where I grew up. I hope that the school board will be encouraging of such a club and we can begin making a difference together. If I need to provide any more information on the situation, please let me know. But hopefully this e-mail gives you somewhat of an idea about itsChance and our goals. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
