C-2 Approve settlement of personal injury claim of Anthony Bowick and Lashana Bowick
Issue/Rationale
On September 23, 2010, Anthony Bowick was ninth grade student at Orange Park High School. He was assaulted by another student in the weight room during class. As a result he suffered a broken jaw which had to be wired in place. Medical bills exceeded $20,000.00 and resulted in a lien for $5800.00 and outstanding bills of $3200.00. Settlement was reached by consensus among Board chairman Carol Studdard, Dr. George Copeland and Bruce Bickner. Total settlement for all claims is $10,000.00.
Recommended Action
Superintendent recommends approval.
