May 20, 2014 - Regular Meeting Agenda Item #18 Item Title C-19 State of Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program Statewide Provider Agreement Issue/Rationale The contract between Episcopal Children's Services and the Clay County School District is important because it is required if our district is to offer VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten). By statute we are only required to offer a summer VPK program. However, the Instructional Division is committed to providing free VPK to the citizens of Clay County year-round. VPK helps build readiness for kindergarten.  It is a win-win for parents, students, teachers, schools, and our district as a whole.  The VPK contract with Episcopal Children's Services has already been approved by Bruce Bickner and Nancy Racine.
