Item Title
C-34 Consultant fees for Safe Crisis Management trainers

Issue/Rationale

Currently school personnel must a times physically manage student s in crisis for the protection of the student and others.  Training of personnel is required under state law.  Typically, only school personnel serving students in more restrictive settings are trained in this methodology.  Safe Crisis Management is a comprehensive training program focused on preventing and managing crisis events and improving safety.  Safe Crisis Management uses a trauma-sensitive approach with emphasis on building positive relationships.

District trainers are recertified annually by the Safe Crisis Management staff.  The attached consultant agreements are for the training provided by Clay County trainers to Clay County personnel.  District personnel are only paid under the consultant agreements for training conducted outside contractual time.



Recommended Action

                                                         

Approve consultant agreements with Clay County personnel for 2014-2015.



Financial Impact

Training costs are approximately $20,000.
