C-17 Pay mileage at .44.5 cents/mile to have parent transport ESE student to Center Academy for year July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007. (Revised)
Issue/Rationale
Because of the time of day, distance, and student's age, parent would be willing to transport student to Center Academy. By authorizing mileage, students is less expensive than alternate transportation, according to Bob Veres, Director, Transportation.
It is more effective to allow the parent to transport than to provide busing and supervision to allow the student to attend school. ESE students cannot be denied an appropriate education for lack of transportation. Mr. Veres states this will save a bus and driver cost.
Recommended Action
Approve the Superintendent's recommendation to pay mileage.
Financial Impact
The total cost of transportation is expected to be less than $2,000.00.
