Agenda Item #15 Item Title C-19 Continue grant funded training in the Safe Crisis Management Program for ESE employees school year 2006-2007. (Revised) Issue/Rationale Currently school personnel must manage students physically for the protection of the student and others. The School Board adopts a series of techniques that have been designed to aviod injury. We are now requesting approval to utilize and train JKL Management's Safe Crisis Management Program. Personnel have been trained and using this program for the past two years. This program provides an effective, safe management technique for the restraint of students whose behaviors require personnel to intervene. The program promotes safety and reduces the potential liability. Recommended Action Superintendent recommends approval. Financial Impact Training will be required in some job positions. Initial training of trainers is supported by grant funds. Updating and training of most Clayy personnel is then provided by these trainers. Both ESE funds and grant funds are then utilized, costing approximately $20,000.00 per year. Submitted By Dr. Daniel Becton, Director, Exceptional Student Education |
