Issue Rationale for bids to be awarded as required per FS 287, DOE 6A-1.01 and School Board Policy

a.  Catalog Percentage Discount Bid #08-BA-97 – Bid established to purchase equipment, furniture, and materials/supplies (office, classroom, teacher, etc.) at a fixed percentage discount of vendors catalog price.  One hundred and eighty-five (185) bids solicited, one hundred and twenty-three (123) bids received, one hundred and six (106) bids qualified, eight (8) bids didn’t qualified, six (6) were no bids, three (3) were late bids and eleven (11) bids were returned to us undeliverable.

b.  Telecommunication Infrastructure Installation County Wide Bid #08-MI-78 – Bid established to purchase

service for cabling installation at a firm fixed hourly rate for one lead technician and/or one qualified technician/helper.  Due to the heavy use of the services under this contract during certain periods, this bid specified all qualified contractors to be awarded and given the opportunity to submit sealed quotes on a project-by-project basis.  Five (5) bids solicited and advertisement posted, four (4) bids received, three (3) bids qualified and one (1) bid didn’t qualify.

a.  Catalog Percentage Discount Bid #08-BA-97 - Recommend award as per attachment.

b.  Telecommunication Infrastructure Installation County Wide Bid #08-MI-78 - Recommend award to:

Professional Telephone Services, Inc. d/b/a Converged Communications, Inc., 6316 Greenland Road,   Jacksonville, Florida  32258.  

Miller Electric, 2251 Rosselle Street, Jacksonville, Florida  32204

Network Cabling Services, Inc., 365 College Drive, Middleburg, Florida  32068

a.  Catalog Percentage Discount Bid #08-BA-97:  Funding for products are included in the operating budget at each facility therefore no increased financial impact to the District.  This bid will save the District money based on percentage discount off catalog pricing. 

b.  Telecommunication Infrastructure Installation County Wide Bid #08-MI-78:  Estimated $60,000.00
