Item Title
C-36 Resolution to Dispose of the Wastewater Treatment Plant at Tynes Elementary School
Issue/Rationale
The wastewater treatment plant is no longer usable and has become a liability. Disposal of School Board owned property requires approval of the School Board by Resolution as defined in F.S. 1013.28. It is recommended that this structure be sold or demolished to eliminate any potential liability with the structure and clear the property for future use. The Maintenance Department has determined it is not cost effective to keep this wastewater treatment plant. Department of Environmental Protection requires the plant be removed within one (1) year after the plant is taken out of service. The school is now connected to Clay County Utility Authority.
Recommended Action
Approve the Resolution to dispose of the wastewater treatment plant at Tynes Elementary School.
Financial Impact
The cost to raze the wastewater treatment plant and remove the debris is estimated not to exceed $25,000.00. Estimated value of the plant is $10,000.00.
