September 16, 2010 Regular Meeting Agenda Item #7 Item Title Adopt the 2010-11 Discretionary Mill Levy Issue/Rationale In addition to RLE, districts may choose to levy an additional non-voted property tax.  The Legislature establishes the maximum millage that each district may levy.  Currently, the maximum allowed is 0.748 mills.  (The 0.748 Mill Compression shown previously is awarded to districts who do not generate at least 396.70 per student with the levy for 2010-11). Recommended Action Motion to adopt the discretionary mill levy of 0.748 which is (7.98) percent less than the rolled-back rate. Financial Impact The levy will generate $7,010,854 to Fund 100, and $7,263,520 in compression. Submitted By Dr. George F.
