C-28 Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Continuing Services Contract Award
Issue/Rationale
The selection was conducted in accordance with Florida Statute 287.055. The project was advertised for three consecutive weeks with The Clay Today. Selection Committee members were Jim Connell – Director of Facility Planning and Construction, John Merrill – Director of Maintenance, and Charles E. Van Zant, Jr. – School Board Member.
As a result of interviews and after due consideration, the Selection Committee ranked the following firms in priority order:
1. GLE Associates, Inc. –
2. KPI Engineering, Inc. –
3. Estrella Engineering, Inc. –
4. M.V. Cummings Engineers, Inc. –
The top ranked firm, GLE Associates, Inc., declined the contract at a fee rate of 6%, therefore; the recommendation is for KPI Engineering, Inc. to be awarded the contract.
Recommended Action
Appoint the 2nd ranked firm, KPI Engineering, Inc. at a fee of 6% of the construction cost for Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Continuing Services.
Financial Impact
All funding necessary for the Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Continuing Services fees resulting from this contract are budgeted within the Educational Facilities Plan. The exact amount of fees cannot be determined at this time.
