September 22, 2008 Special Meeting Agenda Item #7 Item Title Adopt the 2008-09 discretionary mill levy Issue/Rationale In addition to RLE, districts may choose to levy an additional non-voted property tax.  The Legislature establishes the maximum millage that each district may levy.  Currently, the maximum allowed is 0.498 mills.  (The 0.498 Mill Compression shown previously is awarded to districts who do not generate at least $337.22 per student with the levy for 2008-09.) Recommended Action Motion to adopt the discretionary mill levy of 0.498 which is (0.025) percent less than the rolled-back rate. Financial Impact The levy will generate $5,230,657 to fund 100.
