Opening Discussion: 

• All district Divisions have almost completed first draft proposed changes to their sections of the policies. 
• Once completed, a workshop will be scheduled so departments can review the changes to their respective sections.  The Board should expect substantial overhauls.
• There is no longer the state requirement for policy review every two years. 
• The Board discussed the merits of using Neola for maintaining its policies but decided not to pursue the program at this time.  
• There was discussion about moving agenda items to Discussion when comment cards are submitted on Consent items.  This should be at the discretion of the Chair.  

Policy review began with Section 1.02 E.9. which is where the Board left off at its March 20, 2018, workshop.  The Board reviewed proposed language revisions, adding or striking language as needed.  Review of Policy 1.02 was completed, as well as Policies 1.03 and 1.04.  Policies 1.01 through 1.04 will be placed on the May Regular board meeting agenda for advertisement.

The next policy review workshop will be scheduled pending the coordination of a roundtable meeting with the Clay County Sheriff and Board of County Commissioners to discuss security and funding for School Resource Officers.
