Description

Month of the Military Child is sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy office within the Office of the Under Secretary for Personnel and Readiness to develop policies and programs to enhance the quality of life, well-being, and mission readiness for service members, their families, and survivors.  Supported by the Department of Defense Education Activity, Purple UP! for Military Kids is a day for DoDEA communities to wear purple in a show of support and to thank military children for their strength and sacrifices.  Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue are all thought to combine together as a single color: purple.  Purple Up! day is recognized worldwide across military installations on April 15, 2026.

Gap Analysis

Military connected students represent a significant percentage of our overall student population, and this event gives us the opportunity to recognize their service to the country.

The citizens of Clay County will show appreciation and further support students and families who serve or who have served in all branches of the military.

That the Clay County School Board approve this proclamation.
