April 5, 2018 - Regular School Board Meeting
Title
C23 - Middleburg Elementary (MBE) Building 7 Restroom Remodel Contract Award
Description

This project is listed in the 2017/2018 Educational Facilities Plan.  This project includes finish and fixture upgrades, and updates to the facility to meet ADA code requirements.   The award of a construction project in excess of $50,000.00 requires School Board approval.  The bid opening was held March 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.  The project had one (5) bidders that met the bid requirements.

Gap Analysis

SDCC educational facilities should provide a safe and efficient environment for all stakeholders. Unreliable, outdated, and malfunctioning student restrooms result in less than optimal working conditions and can directly affect student performance.  Additionally, older facilities are generally less efficient and require increased maintenance attention in time, material cost, and energy.

Previous Outcomes

Current restroom conditions at MBE Building 7 have reached the end of their useful life and should be upgraded with more efficient finishes and fixtures, and to meet ADA code requirements. Facilities of this age require more maintenance attention resulting in increased costs in manpower, parts replacement, and energy consumption to keep them operating in an acceptable condition.

Expected Outcomes

Replacement and upgrades of fixtures and finishes will result in a more comfortable and effective environment for students, teachers, and staff.

Strategic Plan Goal

Ensure effective management of the organization, operations and facilities to maximize the use of resources and promote a safe, efficient and effective learning environment for Clay County students.

Recommendation

School Board award the construction contract to Gary S. Bailey, Inc., the low bidder meeting all specifications.
