Title C17 - Resolution #17-18, establishing the month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month | ||
Description Because every child has a right to be safe, healthy, and educationally and developmentally on track, the School Board of Clay County will officially recognize the month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month through this Resolution. Planned activities for this month include: 1. Truck Tour Event - A county-wide event focused on "Building Community and Building Hope" for children who are victims of child abuse. Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. at 327 n. Orange Avenue, Green Cove Springs. 2. Pinwheel Garden - SEDNET wlil be creating gardens in a variety of locations throughout Clay County. One garden will be located in front of the Adult Education building at Orange Park High School and one at the county office in Green Cove Springs. 3. Pinwheel Classroom Activity - SEDNET See You at the Top students will be assisting students in special education classrooms to make pinwheels. This is especially important becuase students with limited communicatoin skills have a high risk of being abused. 4. Praise a Parent - Schools will be encouraged to have teachers call parents of struggling students and thank them for allowing Clay County the opportunity to work with them, giving specific positive statements about something their child has done. | ||
Gap Analysis This resolution will increase awareness and promote greater support for abused and neglected children in Clay County. | ||
Previous Outcomes N/A - This will be the Board's first time adopting a resolution for Child Abuse Prevention. | ||
Expected Outcomes The citizens of Clay County will be made aware and support Child Abuse Prevention Month by engaging in activities that will strengthen families and communities, and provide optimal environments for happy and healthy children. | ||
