School Board of Clay County
August 3, 2017 - Regular School Board Meeting
Title
D7 - Public Hearing to approve, as advertised, revisions to 2017-18 Code of Student Conduct
Description

Per statutory rquirement, the 2017-18 Code of Student Conduct is being noticed prior to its official adoption by the School Board of Clay County in August of 2017.  The Code of Student Conduct is a policy adopted by the district that defines and describes the expected behavior of students while in the learning environment, and guidelines to administrators on addressing conduct infractions through intervention and consequences.

Gap Analysis

The Code of Student Conduct is updated annually to address new statutory requirements and strengthen existing language based on a review of discipline data profiles.  In light of the national concerns related to cyber-bullying and the influence of social media platforms on the behavior of children and youth, additional language was added to the Code that better describes the use of phones and other electronic devices.
