Title C26 - Mobile Food Truck | ||
Description The Food and Nutrition Services Department (FNS) will fund a mobile food truck in order to provide meals in a modern method approach while meeting the nutritional needs of students. Meals will be prepared and served in a creative, multidisciplinary environment to enhance student learning through exposure and hands on experience. The FNS Department will work collaboratively with the district's culinary department engaging students with a variety of learning opportunities. From menu design and development, class tours, to working directly on the truck, the students of Clay County will benefit. The mobile food truck will also be used to continue our efforts to reach out to the community during the summer months and improve our capacity to reach food-insecure children. | ||
Gap Analysis FNS is in need of new and relevant marketing strategies to increase participation and student engagement with the FNS program in secondary schools. The proposed schedule and revenue projections are as followed; Projected Revenue/Tentative Start-Up Schedule-to visit 1 high school per week Example- OPH- Monday
OHS- Tuesday
MHS- Wednesday
RHS- Thursday
FIH- Friday
$1,466.25 revenue per week in meals plus additional a la carte sales-$375.00 $1841.25 per week X 36 weeks=$66,285.00 *Initial projected participation/revenue only. Does not include other areas of opportunities such as junior high breakfast. Food truck placement will be based strategically around meal service times and stakeholder interest. | ||
Previous Outcomes This is a new program for Clay County District Schools. Federal Funds can be used to purchase and staff the food truck.

Expected Outcomes Increase in student participation while engaging students in a variety of learning opportunities. Enhance marketing of FNS offerings and overall productivity working in coordination with our CTE program.

Strategic Plan Goal Ensure effective management of the organization, operation, and facilities to maximize the use of resources and promote a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment for Clay County students. FNS goal is to provide top quality nutrition to students and stakeholders. | ||
Recommendation The Clay County School Board approves the mobile food truck to allow for an increase in student participation and engage students in an unique learning opportunity.
