In August 2023, the School Board of Clay County will open its 43^rd school facility.  In conjunction with the opening, a new attendance zone must be created.  In addition, the surrounding impacted area schools’ attendance zones must be revised to accommodate the new school.

This item is for approval to advertise the public hearing to adopt the recommended attendance zones for Spring Park Elementary and surrounding impacted schools.

Spring Park Elementary will open August 2023.  As a result, an attendance zone must be created and the surrounding impacted schools’ attendance zones must be revised.  This requirement is to ensure enrollment stability and sustainability for the community.  Safety considerations, current enrollment, future growth, neighborhood proximity, geographical balance, and transportation needs are considered when presenting options.  A public hearing will be scheduled on this topic Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Teacher Training Center at Fleming Island High School, 2233 Village Square Parkway, Fleming Island, FL  32003.

The Board has approved advertisements for public hearings for attendance zone realignments in the past.

The Board will approve the advertisement for a public hearing for a Spring Park Elementary attendance zone and revisions to the impacted surrounding schools’ attendance zones.
