Title C21 - Schematic/Preliminary/Final (Phase I, II & III) Plans and Specifications for Wilkinson Junior High School HVAC Replacement
Description The HVAC units in buildings 1, 4, and 5 at Wilkinson Junior High School are over 18 years old and have been requiring increased maintenance attention to keep them operating normally and provide a satisfactory work environment for students, teachers, and staff. Gap Analysis: Unreliable and malfunctioning HVAC units result in less than optimal working conditions and can directly affect student performance. Additionally, older units are generally less efficient and require increased maintenance attention in time, material cost, and energy. Previous Outcomes: HVAC units are designed to be serviceable for 15 to 20 years depending upon use. Units of this age require more maintenance attention resulting in increased costs in manpower, parts replacement, and energy consumption to keep them operating in an acceptable condition. Expected Outcomes: Replacement of these units will result in a more reliable comfort level for students, teachers, and staff and reduce operational costs through increased efficiency. Strategic Plan Goal: Well-maintained, safe, and efficient facilities.
Recommendation That the School Board approve the Schematic/Preliminary/Final (Phase I, II & III) Plans and Specifications for the capital project involving replacement of the HVAC units at Wilkinson Junior High School in buildings 1, 4, and 5.
