Title C2 - Approve the Nomination for the Citizens Advisory Committee
Description The citizens of Clay County approved a half-cent school capital outlay sales surtax on the November 2020 general election ballot. School Board Policy 1.14, provides for the formation of a Citizens Advisory Committee to monitor and report on the use of the sales surtax revenues to assure the public that the monies are being utilized as provided for by state law. On May 6, 2021, the School Board approved the active and alternate appointees for the committee. The approved Alternate appointee for District 4 has resigned. Policy 1.14D provides that in the event that a vacancy occurs, the nominating officer for that seat shall nominate a successor to fill the vacancy. School Board Policy 1.14B requires that proposed members must be approved by the Board at a regular Board meeting. Ms. Bullock, Board member for District 4, has nominated Shawn Jackson to be appointed as the alternate to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of District 4’s appointed alternate.
Gap Analysis Approval by the School Board of the Citizens Advisory Committee members, including alternate members, is required by School Board Policy 1.14.
