Title
C6 - Three year extension of current Affiliation Agreement - University of Southern California and School District of Clay County.
Description

A collaborative agreement between University of Southern California and School District of Clay County for student teaching/field experience placements and internships has been in place since May 17, 2012.  This collaborative agreement has helped Clay County residents, and prospective future Clay County teachers the opportunity to have their field experience in Clay Schools.  This has served to be a great method to help “home-grow” future teachers for Clay County.

Previous Outcomes

Clay County has had a positive working experience with the University of Southern California and the placement of their interns in Clay County’s schools.  These interns have had positive work experiences and the majority chose to teach in Clay County upon receiving their Florida professional certificates.  Clay County’s SPRINT teachers place interns for the University of Southern California and work the University to prepare them for a career in the classroom.

Expected Outcomes

To continue collaboration with the University of Southern California in providing field experience and placement of interns.  Clay County anticipates the hiring of these placed University of Southern California students as full-time instructional personnel upon graduation.

Strategic Plan Goal

SPRINT instructors will work closely with the University of Southern California in the placement of interns and by providing field experiences for students as needed.  SPRINT teachers will collaborate with intern supervisors and provide feedback from school leaders.

Recommendation

Approval of three year extension of the Affiliation Agreement between the University of Southern California and School District of Clay County.
