Consistent with Florida High School Athletic Association Policy 40.3, this contract is for trainers to be present at sporting events and practices for those sports where athletes are at risk for concussion.  Trainers also provide assessment and care for school athletic injuries, in addition to providing students a direct link to medical care for new injuries and athletic emergencies.

Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) strongly recommends having an appropriate health-care professional (AHCP) present at all sporting events where athletes are at risk for concussion.  Preferred Physical Therapy works with the SBCC athletic department to ensure student athletes receive the necessary attention for their injuries with the proper health care providers.

SBCC has successfully used Preferred Physical Therapy's services since 2015 (via a contract between St. Vincent's Health System d/b/a St. Vincent's Healthcare and SBCC).  They have provided student-athletes with all the necessary services to ensure their well-being and the safety of student-athletes.

The continued use of trainers being present at athletic events will ensure that student-athletes will continue to receive the necessary care for their injuries for the 2025-2026 school year.
