Title D1 - Fleming Island Junior High/K-8 School Construction (Submitted by Mrs. Kerekes)
Description The Fleming Island community has been awaiting a junior high school for more than 20 years. Since the first new developments were constructed, residents have been continually questioning this School Board regarding a potential timeline. With the recent redistricting issues arising in Fleming Island due to overcrowding at Paterson Elementary School, this School Board should explore the possibility of building a K-8 to service both elementary and junior high students in the area. The Clay County School Board currently owns 42 acres in the middle of Fleming Island. The State of Florida allows new construction to occur for the purpose of reducing portables pursuant to the Portable Reduction Act.
