Title C4 - Approval for the Purchase of Edgenuity Virtual Instruction Curriculum K-12th grades
Description The Edgenuity virtual instruction program (VIP) courses are designed to reflect research-based instructional practices to meet the needs of all students. Their courses feature rigorous, explicit instruction led by expert, on-screen teachers, as well as allowing district teachers to incorporate their own uniqueness to the course. It includes courses with challenging content, relevant activities, adaptable formative and summative assessments, and real-time feedback. Their curriculum is aligned with the state standards and the curriculum has been approved by the Florida Department of Education.
| ||
Gap Analysis Currently, Clay Virtual Academy only offers Florida Virtual School curriculum as a franchise to our district’s 6-12th-grade students. The Edgenuity curriculum provides a more interactive, rigorous, teacher interactive curriculum. FLVS does not provide test prep courses that can be integrated into the daily curriculum as Edgenuity does. By purchasing this virtual curriculum compared to solely using FLVS the district will also save a substantial amount of funding.
Previous Outcomes Clay schools had purchased the Edgenuity VIP curriculum for the 2018-2019 for students taking Credit Recovery courses. We have seen student more engaged and completing their courses in a timely fashion with this curriculum. It has also proven to have excellent monitoring tools for teachers, counselors, and administrators.
Expected Outcomes Students will be more engaged using the Edgenuity curriculum on account of the engaging teacher lead videos and interactive lessons. Teachers have the ability to differentiate lessons within the current content of the program to help meet the needs of individualized students. Edgenuity reports generated will assist all stakeholders to be able to monitor and address student progress and needs. To pay considerably less for virtual instruction curriculum versus the previous curriculum.
Strategic Plan Goal Goal 1: Develop a High Quality & Aligned Instructional System

Financial Impact $351,320.00. Note that the previous provider cost over $500,000 in the 2017/2018 school year on the same number of courses with FLVS’s curriculum.
