1. Review Draft Agenda for Regular School Board Meeting on June 1, 2017
Minutes:
  • C1 Minutes of previous meetings - no discussion
  • C2 Bargaining Team Addendum - replacing Mr. Waremburg with Mr. Fitzpatrick and Mr. Feltner with Mrs. Pickett; first bargaining session is tomorrow; Mrs. Pickett will attend with Board's approval;
  • C3 Personnel Consent Agenda - Superintendent reviewed the the two Job Descriptions; 
  • C4 Advertisement of Policy Changes 2.02(B) Application Screening - revised language to allow non-renewed employees (instructional and support) to return to the pool;
  • C5 Renewal of UNF MOU for Sprint teachers - to place students going into teaching profession; UNF pays half of Sprint teacher salaries
  • C6 3-Yr Extension of Agreement of USC - Univ of Southern California - online courses; place interns; no cost to the district; 
  • C7 Eureka Math - supplemental support for Math Gr. 2-8; helps student with better understanding of conceptual problems; 
  • C8 iReady - Tier two which includes tools and support for Reading for K-3 and Math for K-8;
  • C9 Out-of-County Student Travel - reviewed trip details; 
  • C10 Certified Leadership Coaching - for Principals to become true instructional coaches; 
  • C11 2017 Principal Institute - partnership with The New Teacher Project for 3 days for principals; June 19-21 at THC;  
  • C12 Daily Hours 2017-2018 - common planning time formerly referred to as PLC; 
  • C13 2017-2018 Allocation Changes - discussed last two allocations on the list; RHS getting media because they met class size and had additional allocation; overstaffed KHE that was not generated; gave allocation to TES; 
  • C14 2016-2017 Allocations Changes - correcting error at no addtional cost; Paraprofessional /Reading; 
  • C15 2017-2018 Property/Casualty Insurance Renewal - standard renewal;
  • C16 Renewal of Third Party Adjusters - Johns Eastern - 3-year renewal; current contract expires June 30; Mr. D'Agata to review; Mr. Davis will make a call to try and negotiate a lower renewal price;   
  • C17 Warrants and Vouchers - no discussion
  • C18 Budget Amendments - no discussion
  • C19 Financial Report - will see new reporting format beginning July 1;
  • C20 2017-2018 FNS Meal Price Increases -  increase to bring us in compliance with Paid Lunch Equity Provision; will improve quality of food;
  • C21 - C25 - Routine Property Reports - no discussion
  • C26 Write-Off of Missing Property - Superintendent is overly concerned about amount of missing property; will hold principals accountable;
  • C27 - Bids to be Awarded - Flooring contract award to Teal Tile; Ramp/Stair Systems contract award to G & A Manufacturing; 
  • C28 - Renewal of Employee Benefits for 2017-2018 - overall increase of 10% over current rates;
  • C29 Interlocal with BCC - to provide low-priced gasoline for Fire & Rescue in Keystone;
  • C30 Elem "Y" GMP - bid package for site work; allows site work to begin while final drawings and permitting is in progress;
  • C31 Pre-Qualifications of Contractors - routine; no discussion; 
  • C32 Schematic/Prelim Plans & Specs for Elem "Y" -  learned from Coppergate ; will make adjustments as needed to Plans & Specs; will not open with portables but will have water and electric hookups;
  • D1 - HR Special Action - no discussion

Closing Comments:

  • May 31 - Budget Review Workshop - 10:00 at TTC; 
  • Southern Strategies Contract for lobbyist; add to June 29th agenda;
  • Mrs. Bush will see if Southern Strategies can give Legislative update at May 31 workshop;
  • Principal Reappointments; attachment to be added by 48-hour deadline for June 1 Regular meeting; 
  • Charter schools should not be included in Superintendent's daily/weekly communications; Supt does not lead their work; 
  • Next agenda review - June 20 at 9:00; 
  • Confusion over summer checks for teachers; Superintendent will look into this and update the Board;
