| Title Approve the changes to the early dismisal times for all junior high school students, except those attending Keystone Heights Junior/Senior High School, for June 1 and June 2, 2021 | ||
| Description The Junior High School students in the Clay school district, with the exception of those attending Keystone Heights Junior/Senior High School, are currently scheduled for early dismissal on June 1 and June 2, 2021. The currently scheduled dismissal time for the affected junior high schools is 12:45 p.m. The high schools are scheduled for dismissal at 1:40 p.m. on June 1 and 2, 2021. The current scheduled times create a transportation conflict. The busses transporting the junior high students will not have finished their routes in time to pick up the high school students. This delay will result in the busses then being unavailable to pick up the elementary school students at their scheduled times of 2:42 p.m.. It is expected that a delay of 35 to 45 minutes would occur in picking up the high school and then the elementary students. This would result in the elementary school students being left unattended on the school grounds which is an unacceptable occurrence. Changing the early dismissal time of the affected junior high school students from 12:45 p.m. to 12:00 noon will eliminate the problem/conflict. The classroom teaching time has been calculated and it has been determined that this change will not result in a shortage in the teaching time required by the Florida Department of Education as additional/extra minutes were part of the emergency plan. | ||
| Gap Analysis Approval of this early dismissal time will eliminate a heretofore unknown conflict in scheduling between the various school levels (elementary, junior high and high school) with regard to transportation on the days of June 1 and June 2, 2021. | ||
