This program is a software based item that contains curriculum for courses from grades 6-12.  This digital curriculum helps the district meet the needs for core and/or elective courses, credit recovery, grade and/or concept remediation, career and technical education content, prescription for special needs children, and blended learning models.  The program, similar to Compass, will be utilized by all Clay County schools.

This program will fill a gap in the curriculum services currently provided.  This program is utilized as a resource and alternative learning method.  It is common for school districts to contract with a software vendor for these services.  For the last 8 years, Clay County contracted with Compass Odyssey Learning. Edgenuity has purchased this program (Compass) and providing an updated version of the software (the former program - Compass - is no longer supported by the company).

The usage of the former program, Compass, helped the district decrease the failure rate as it was used during the summer offerings as well as for tutoring purposes.  In addition, schools used the program as a resource for the regular classroom.  

The more updated program, Edgenuity, will continue to support teachers and students in the various formats - "Summer School," tutoring, resources for teachers, etc. All of these formats helps to decrease the failure rates among students, leading to higher passing rates, credits earned, and the ultimate goal - graduation.

To increase student's level of learning and earning of credits.  Both of which lead to obtaining a high school diploma.

That the Clay County School Board approve the agreement with Edgenuity.
