School Board Policy 4.62 was adopted by the School Board of Clay County, Florida on May 15, 2008. Said Policy sets forth the requirements and governing processes for naming Academies, Apprentice Programs and Career Education. In the final analysis, it is the Superintendent of Schools who is tasked with determining that the quality and character of the business or industrial entity whose name will be linked with a school district program is such that it is an asset to and reflection of the good reputation and image of Clay County Schools and the School Board. Following such a determination, the Superintendent shall place the matter, with his recommendations, shall be placed on the consent agenda of the next regularly scheduled board meeting for School Board action. Garber Ford, Inc., in association with its parent company in Saginaw, Michigan, is funding, sponsoring and is an essential participant in the success of the automotive maintenance and repair academy. The Superintendent, based upon all factors, is recommending that the Automotive Maintenance and Repair Career Academy be named “The Garber Academy of Automotive Services at Middleburg High School.”

Approval of Academy name selection by the School Board is required by School Board Policy 4.62.
