Call to Order  (Present: Janice Kerekes, District 1; Carol Studdard, District 2; Betsy Condon, District 3; Mary Bolla, District 4; Ashley Gilhousen, District 5; and Superintendent Addison Davis. Pursuant to Section 1001.37, Florida Statutes, the Superintendent of Schools chaired the Organization meeting.)
Swearing-In Ceremony  (NONE - Not an election year.)
Organization of the School Board
1. Elect Chair
Minutes:

Janice Kerekes nominated Carol Studdard, and Ashley Gilhousen nominated Mary Bolla.  With no further nominations, Superintendent Davis closed the floor for Chair and a verbal vote was taken.  

Voting Aye for Carol Studdard:  Mrs. Kerekes, Mrs. Studdard, Mrs. Condon

Voting Nay:  Mrs. Gilhousen, Mrs. Bolla

With the majority vote received, Mrs. Studdard was elected Chair.

 
2. Elect Vice Chair
Minutes:

Nominations were opened for Vice Chair.  Janice Kerekes nominated Betsy Condon.  With no further nominations, the floor was closed for Vice Chair and a verbal vote was taken.  Mrs Condon was unanimously voted the new Vice Chair with a 5-0 vote. 

Following the election of officers, Superintendent Davis presented Mrs. Kerekes with a plaque in recogniton of her year of service as the Chair.
3. Establish Date and Time of Meetings
Minutes:

Superintendent Davis entertained a motion to establish the date and time for Regular meetings.  Motion was made by Mrs. Condon, seconded by Mrs Bolla:

That the Board establish meeting dates and times for Regular School Board Meetings for the period December 2017 through November 2018, as the first Thursday of each month with the exception of the July meeting due to the July 4th holiday, which will be held Thursday, June 28, 2017. All meetings to be held at 6:00 p.m. at Fleming Island High School.

Motion carried 5-0.
Adjournment  (6:12 a.m.)
The School Board's Regular meeting will be held immediately following Adjournment.
