School Board of Clay County
November 7, 2024 - Regular School Board Meeting
Title
C13 - Affiliation Agreement- Florida Gulf Coast University
Description

The School Board of Clay County has a current affiliation agreement with Florida Gulf Coast University that only allows for placement of Occupational and Physical Therapy interns within our schools. This new agreement would allow for the same agreement but for masters level school counseling interns. This includes both traditional interns and current employees who are placed as out of field school counselors.

Gap Analysis

Current and prospective school counselors rely on CCDS for placement at internship sites to ensure their completion of School Counseling Master’s degree programs and state certification requirements. This continued agreement is vital to our placement of qualified school counselors. The addition of multiple universities with affiliation agreements also increases the options for our out of field school counselors to have access to the coursework needed to become fully certified.

Previous Outcomes

Intern placements have successfully completed required field work to progress towards their degree programs and state certification requirements.

Expected Outcomes

Increase placement of qualified school counselors

Strategic Plan Goal

Goal 4: Safe and Positive Learning Environment. A district wide plan ensures that students at all schools have access to quality counseling services to support their mental health and wellness by increasing strategies that specifically address student resilience, positive behavior and life skills.

Recommendation

That the school board approves the affiliation agreement.
