Penney Retirement Community is an outstanding business partner which provides opportunitites for CTE Health Science students to conduct clinical rotations in their facility.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) industry certification requires students to participate in clinical hours at a hospital to earn their CNA certification.  Penney Retirement Community allows CTE students to do these clinical hours at their hosptial.  Industry certifications prepare students for college and careers, provide bonus funding for CTE programs, and contribute to each school's grade.

Clay County's Health Science programs have partnered with Penney Retirement Community and other healthcare institutions for clinicals, resulting in nearly 100 CNA certifications during the 2017-2018 school year.  

Hands-on experiences like clinical rotations in healthcare facilities prepare students for college and careers.  Additionally, an increase in CNA industry certifications is also expected. 

Strategy 1.3:  Prepare all students to be full option graduates who are prepared for college, eligible to enlist in military services, or able to compete in the workforce.
