C21 - AICE Testing Facility at Fleming Island High School Architect Contract Award
Description

The selection was conducted in accordance with Florida Statute 287.055.  The project was advertised for three consecutive weeks with The Clay Today.  Selection Committee members were Tom Pittman, Principal, James A. Connell, and Janice Kerekes, School Board Member.  

As a result of interviews and after due consideration, the Selection Committee recommends the following firms as listed in priority order:

1.    Brian Boatright, Architect

2.    Bhide & Hall Architects, P.A.

Gap Analysis

Selection of the architecture firm is based on capabilities, adequacy of personnel, past record, location, and experience of the firms and/or individual.

Previous Outcomes

Awarding a contract for professional architecture services authorizes a firm or individual to proceed with a School Board project.  

Expected Outcomes

The appointed architecture firm shall be available to design, manage, and inspect the AICE Testing Facility at Fleming Island High School.

Strategic Plan Goal

Ensure effective management of the organization, operations, and facilities to maximize the use of resources and promote a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment for Clay County students.  SDCC educational facilities should provide top tier facilities that afford teachers and students the ability to reach their highest potential.  

Recommendation

Appoint the top ranked firm, Brian Boatright, Architect, at a fee of 8% of the construction cost for design and construction administration of the AICE Testing Facility at Fleming Island High School.

Financial Impact
This is a school initiated project. All funding necessary for the Architectural fees resulting from this contract will be funded via the AICE Program at Fleming Island High School.
