Description

Resolutions in Special Education (RISE) provides contracted consultant services to assist the Exceptional Student Education/Student Services director in meeting all State and Federal Department of Education Requirements and legal mandates.

Gap Analysis

Resolutions in Special Education (RISE)  provides consulting services to the Exceptional Student Education/Student Services department to assist them in their efforts to comply with State and Federal laws applicable to educating students with disabilities.   The consultant provides ongoing and technical assistance, collaboration and problem-solving techniques for the purpose of prevention and resolution of educational disputes or issues, as well as compliance with the legal requirements applicable to students with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

The consultant assists the Exceptional Student Education/Student Services department in the revision /amendments to the district’s Special Programs and Procedures and Admissions and Placement manuals ensuring district practices and policies are currently based on State Board Rule revisions, as well as, federal statutory/regulatory revisions, policy updates, and district experiences. RISE provides ongoing consultation, policy/procedure review, and in-service training for educators, administrators, LEA Representatives and other IEP or Section 504 team members.  Furthermore, the consultant provides assistance in the development of plans and implementation of evaluation methodologies to address State Performance Plan Indicators and assistance with maintaining compliance with the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services self-assessment monitoring plan.

Previous Outcomes

The district has contracted services with Resolutions in Special Education (RISE) since 2011.  This assistance has historically provided the district with excellent compliance/audit results, fiscal savings, and successful gains on the State Performance Plan.  RISE has been exceptionally effective in meeting the district’s needs in the resolution of disputes and in the process of carrying out legal requirements of state rules and federal laws.

Continued excellent compliance/audit results, fiscal savings, and successful gains on the State Performance Plan.  Additionally, to continue to meet the district’s needs in the resolution of disputes and in the process of carrying out legal requirements of state rules and federal laws.
