Change Orders are initiated by the Contractor, Architect/Engineer or Owner, and may increase or decrease the scope of the project as defined by the plans and specifications.  Change Orders are reviewed by the Architect/Engineer and staff prior to submission to the School Board for approval.

This change order will charge the contractor liquidated damages for failure to substantially complete the project by the substantial completion date of October 12, 2010 by 38 days.  Substantial completion was achieved on November 19, 2010.  In accordance with the specifications, failure to meet the substantial completion date results in liquidated damages of $1,000 a day for every calendar day elapsing between the date fixed for substantial completion and the date substantial completion has actually been achieved.

Approve the change order.

If approved, this Change Order will decrease the contract amount for liquidated damages of $1,000 per day for 38 days totaling $38,000.
