February 17, 2011 Regular Meeting Agenda Item #10 Item Title C-9 Out-of-State/Overnight Travel Issue/Rationale Out-of-State travel to attend PLTW training at the University of South Carolina, for William Keher (OPJH), June 6-17 and for Doug Barrows(OPH) and Trudi Lawless (LSJH), June 20-July 1, 2011; and Stevenson University in Stevenson, MD, for Howard Katz (OHS) July 5-15, 2011.  Teachers must be certified in PLTW curriculum in order to teach it.  There are no PLTW training sites in the state of Florida.  This is a pre-engineering curriculum that the Board previously approved with the knowledge that it would require out of state/staff development for teachers who are teaching PLTW. Recommended Action Approve out-of-state/overnight travel as submitted       Financial Impact $9,600 to be paid from Perkins grant Submitted By Paul Parker, Director, CTE
