November 20, 2012 Regular Meeting Agenda Item #36 Item Title Resolution advising the United States Congress and the President of the United States of the opposition to sequestration and advising of the impacts that sequestration will have on the public school students of the Clay County School District. Issue/Rationale In the event that sequestration takes place on January 2, 2013, the immediate impact to the Clay County School District and its students would be the loss of in excess of $1,000,000.00 in funding to IDEA/ESE programs and Title 1 programs.  This funding cannot be replaced from any other source.  The damage to students and educational programs would be tremendous.  Adoption of this Resolution will be a statement to the Congress and Administration of the Districts need for these funds and opposition to sequestration. Recommended Action Approve resolution as submitted.
