September 18, 2008 Regular Meeting Agenda Item #58 Item Title Waiver to the Commissioner of Education for Reduction of 2008-2009 School Term by Two Days Issue/Rationale Clay County Schools were closed on August 21 and August 22, 2008 due to Tropical Storm Fay.  Under Florida State Board Rule 6A-1.09533, following School Board approval, requests can be made to the Commissioner of Education to waive up to three (3) days if the net 900 hours of instructional time is provided during the school year.  Students in Clay County will receive the required instructional hours during the remaining 178 days.
