C9 - Approval of the Curriculum Associates agreement for the purchase of i-Ready Mathematics K-5 and Ellevation Platform for the 2023-2024 School Year
Description

i-Ready Mathematics is an online program that provides students of all ages with differentiated instruction and supports that assist them in their individual paths to success. Students gain experience through concrete examples and engaging lessons. Its responsive instruction provides consistent insight into student understanding and performance on standards, enabling teachers to monitor their students’ progress and help them prepare for standards-based assessments and beyond. The data from the i-Ready Assessment empowers teachers with a deeper knowledge of their students’ needs. Based on research into assessment design and backed by extensive validity evidence, sophisticated data is transformed into meaningful, actionable insights that make differentiating instruction a reality for teachers. A suite of intuitive reports provides a common language through which teachers and administrators can work toward the shared goal of student achievement.

Ellevation is a comprehensive ESOL program management platform that organizes English Language Learners’ data, supports critical reclassification meetings, generates federally mandated plans, enables accurate reporting, and supports instructional planning for multilingual students.

Gap Analysis

i-Ready Mathematics offers a diagnostic tool that will place a student at their current level of proficiency. Each student is assigned a prescriptive pathway based on the diagnostic results to fill in the skill gaps from previous years to move the students toward grade-level proficiency. i-Ready Diagnostic for math (K-5) and provides teachers and administrators with the beginning of the year (BOY), mid-year (MY), and end of the year (EOY) progress monitoring data required for data decision-making.

Previous Outcomes

i-Ready Mathematics: Based on the beginning of the year (BOY) i-Ready Mathematics student performance data compared to EOY student performance data, students working on grade level increased from 19% to 68%, students working one-grade level below decreased from 63% to 27%, and students working two or more grade levels below decreased from 28% to 4% during the 2022-2023 school year.

Ellevation aggregates students’ historical data from federally mandated ELL Screeners and the annual WIDA ACCESS for ELLs. Data from the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs is used to generate annual  ELL Plans, which include language proficiency goals and Can-Do descriptors to inform instruction. 

Expected Outcomes

i-Ready Mathematics: Implementing i-Ready Mathematics as an intervention at Tier I in grades K-5 with assisting in closing achievement gaps with students identified as having substantial deficiencies in mathematics measured by individual student growth rates on i-Ready Diagnostic for Math.

Ellevation will be used to continue to write federally mandated ELL plans annually and track ELL’s quarterly progress toward their language goals.

Recommendation

The School Board approves the purchase of the i-Ready Mathematics site and student licenses, teacher toolbox, and professional development for grades K- 5 and the Ellevation Platform Subscription for the 2023-2024 school year.

Financial Impact
For 2023-2024, the fiscal impact of the i-Ready site and student licenses, teacher toolbox, and professional development will not exceed $484,727.50. The 2023-2024 SAI allocation, ESSER Supplemental Programming grant, and Title II funds will fund the purchase.

The fiscal impact of the Ellevation Platform Subscription is $20,220 and will be funded by the Title III, Part A, English Language Acquisition grant.
