D2 - Public Hearing to approve, as advertised, proposed amendments to School Board Policy 2.36; Firearms and Chemical Weapons
Description

The proposed amendment is intended to update and ensure alignment of School Board Policies with current state law, federal law, State Board of Education Rules, and other applicable rules and regulations.  The proposed revisions to CCSB Policy 2.36 ensures alignment with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, which was enacted earlier this year and produced several significant changes to Florida’s Education Code.  One such change was the expansion of classes of persons authorized to carry firearms on campus.

 

Gap Analysis

All Board Policies are reviewed periodically to ensure they are up to date and compliant with current applicable laws and regulations.

Previous Outcomes

The Board policies have been reviewed and/or revised in the past.            

 

Expected Outcomes

The proposed amendments to Board policies will be adopted by the School Board and implemented appropriately.

Approve the amendments of Board Policy 2.36  Firearms and Chemical Weapons
