C12 - St. Johns River State College Dual Enrollment
Description

A collaborative agreement between St. Johns River State College and the School Board Clay County for Dual Enrollment was approved at the September 3, 2020 Board Meeting. This agreement provides Clay County students to enroll in college courses on the campuses of SJRSC and on each high school site to earn both college credits and high school credits simultaneously.

During the 2020-21 School year, The Governor’s Executive Orders directed schools to provide Innovative Learning options for reopening schools. As a result of these orders, student participation through the Dual Enrollment program increased compared to the prior years.

Gap Analysis

During the 2019-2020 school year, 5,262 credit hours were earned by our students. In 2020-2021, 8,131 credit hours were earned by our students, an increase of 2,869 credit hours. The cost per credit hour is $71.98.

Previous Outcomes

In 2019-2020, 5,262 credit hours were earned by our students. A total cost of $378,759.

In 2020-2021, the original agreement approved the estimated cost of approximately $380,000.

Expected Outcomes

The School Board approved the projected increased cost of $220,000 to the Dual Enrollment Program due to increased enrollment.

Strategic Plan Goal

Goal 1: Strategy 1.3: Prepare all students to be full option graduates who are prepared for college, eligible to enlist in military services, or able to compete in the workforce.

Goal 2: Strategy 2.4: Ensure effective and efficient use of resources for fiscal stability.

Recommendation

That the Clay County School Board approves the increase of cost to the 2020-2021 St. Johns River State College Dual Enrollment Agreement.
