Minutes: The following citizens were present and spoke, expressing various concerns about the school district creating its own police force.
Board discussion followed in which Mrs. Gilhousen expressed her reservations about moving forward at this time. However, the majority of the Board felt this was the right decision. It was noted that this decision was made at the Board's Regular meeting on February 7, 2019, and that the proposed Resolution is needed as part of the application process with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Chair Carol Studdard stated in her comments that Superintendent Davis will address many of the concerns in a Press Conference at noon today at Fleming Island High School in the main lobby.
