School Board of Clay County
February 5, 2026 - Regular School Board Meeting
Title
C13 - Affiliation Agreement- Walsh University
Description

The School Board of Clay County does not have a current affiliation agreement with Walsh University allowing graduate students in the School Counseling program to complete practicum and internship hours within out schools. This agreement will allow us to continue to provide placement for interns in School Counseling and continue to recruit new employees. School Counseling interns are required to be supervised by qualified school counselors approved through Climate & Culture.

Gap Analysis

Current and prospective school counselors rely on CCDS for placement at internship sites to ensure their completion of School Counseling Master's degree programs and state certification requirements. This is vital to our placement of qualifed school counselors. Increasing the number of partner universities allows us to broaden our recruitment for qualified personnel.

Previous Outcomes

Intern placements have been successful in the past and assisted us in retaining qualified personnel.

Expected Outcomes

Increase placement of qualifed school counselors.

Strategic Plan Goal

Goal 4: Safe and Positive Learning Environment. A district wide plan ensures that students at all school have access to quality counseling services to support their mental health and wellness by increasing strategies that specifically address student resilience, positive behavior and life skills.
